Seva and how it can improve your ability to treat patients.
Seva is a Sanskrit word referring to the practice of serving others with no expectation of reward or recognition. This is an amazing concept. It seems so simple, yet I think it's simplicity is what makes us often miss it's point. I realize when I apply this concept to treating patients, my patients get better quicker, come back and refer more often and are generally alot more satisfied with their treatments. It turns my job into a meditative experience. I find myself thinking "this poor human is really suffering. What can I do to make them stop suffering?" When I think of each patient, in pain, or suffering, without the idea of getting money or fame out of the experience, it allows my compassion and creativity to merge into a more intuitive ability to see what the patient needs to resolve their imbalance. Ultimately, this improves my practice, my quality of life, and even my finances.
